Australian Public Service Census

We regularly take part in the Australian Public Service (APS) Census which surveys all APS staff each year on important workplace issues including leadership, staff engagement and job satisfaction.

Feedback from the survey helps us determine where we need to focus to improve employee engagement and culture to make CASA a better workplace.

Background

We employ about 800 people across Australia who work across these areas:

  • Regulatory oversight
  • National operations and standards
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Legal, international and regulatory affairs
  • Corporate services
  • Transformation and safety systems
  • Finance.

CASA 2021 results

The CASA APS Census was conducted from 10 May 2021 until 11 June 2021, 84% of our staff took part in the survey and our overall employee engagement score was 69%.

Our people believe strongly in and are committed to our purpose and our goals – safeguarding and improving aviation safety in Australia. They are also happy to go the ‘extra mile’ when needed and actively work together to improve the way we do things.

Next steps

We take feedback from our staff seriously and are working on strategies to improve leadership and culture. We aim to implement CASA-wide initiatives as well as division and branch-focused improvements to increase engagement and job satisfaction for our people.
