Removing exclusions

You must apply to us to remove an exclusion from a:

  • licence category
  • type rating.

Removing an exclusion from a licence category

To remove an exclusion from a licence category, you need to have met the following theoretical and competency requirements relevant to the excluded aircraft system you are applying to have removed:

  • Basic knowledge and competency requirements – (see 66.A.25 of the Part 66 Manual of Standards (MOS).
  • Units of competency required for removal of an exclusion from a category or subcategory of licence – (see Appendix VIII of the Part 66 MOS).

Licence category exclusion removal training, examination and assessment may only be provided by a Part 147 Maintenance Training Organisation (MTO). If you are seeking to remove exclusions from your licence category, you should contact an MTO.

If you have undertaken your exclusion removal training at an MTO, the MTO will notify us on your behalf of the successful completion of your training.

Note: The new self-study training pathway currently does not cater for removal of exclusions from a Part 66 licence.
