Read morePart 149 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR) sets out what self-administering aviation organisations involved in sport and recreational aircraft activities need to do.
Part 149 of CASR affects individuals and organisations involved in sports aviation administration.
Sport aviation bodies (SAB) could administer sport and recreational aircraft before Part 149 of CASR came into effect. To continue to do this, we required SABs to apply and receive their approved self-administering organisation (ASAO) certificate by 2 December 2023.
SABs become an ASAO after gaining their ASAO certificate. Authorisations issued by former SABs remain valid for 12 months after the ASAO certificate for the body comes into force.
You can find transition rules in Subpart 202.GI of CASR.
