Changes to MCC training authorisations

We are introducing a conversion process for the multi-crew pilot training endorsement (MCP-TE). It applies to pilots who hold or have held an MCC training approval and an instructor rating.

Gaps between privileges and training required for the MCP-TE have been addressed and workarounds are no longer needed for pilot instructors. The process also reduces red tape by removing the need to renew approvals every 2 years.

Pilot instructors can now apply to have their MCC training approval converted to an MCP-TE and have it endorsed on their Part 61 licence. They will be limited to conducting MCC training under a Part 142 training provider.

Pilot instructors who already hold an MCP-TE and a regulation 142.040 approval to conduct MCC don’t need to reapply for the endorsement.  They are authorised by their MCP-TE to conduct MCC training under a Part 142 training provider.

Some pilot instructors who have additional qualifications will be authorised to conduct APTL flight training.

There is no regulatory service fee and once granted, pilot instructors will be able to view their endorsement on their electronic licence via MyCASA.

Existing 142.040 approvals will not be cancelled.  Approval holders can continue to be use them until they expire.  CASA will continue to issue these approvals on a case-by-case basis.

What pilot instructors need to do

We have sent an email to pilot instructors who, according to our records, hold or have held an MCC training approval advising them of the conversion process.

If you are a pilot instructor and did not receive an email and want to obtain the MCP-TE based on the exemption option, please contact us  and include MCP-TE (yes) – CASA EX 32/24 Surname, First name and ARN in the Enquiry field.
