We’ve published a summary of consultation on our proposal to allow aerial work certificate holders to carry personnel involved in firefighting activities in certain circumstances to and from a fireground in rotorcraft.

We received 39 responses.

The feedback related to 5 broad themes:

  1. Alignment of firefighting operations.
  2. Management of passenger training and briefings.
  3. Expanding the policy.
  4. Insurance and liability risk.
  5. Operational framework.

We are now working to:

  • finalise the criteria for the aerial work rules to apply in consultation with the Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Council and stakeholders
  • finalise and implement the policy and guidance materials in time for the 2025/26 fire season.
