How to submit your documentation

Use the steps below to prepare your required documentation and provide it to us before the deadlines.

  1. Prepare your exposition content

    Prepare your SMS, HFNTS and FDAP content, as applicable.

    Use the information and sample templates based on what type of operator you are:

    You may also wish to use your own documentation or procedures.

  2. Nominate your safety manager

    If your safety manager has completed our online safety manager assessment course via AviationWorx, indicate this on the submission form.

    If you are nominating a safety manager who has not completed the CASA assessment module, you must provide us with evidence to support their nomination.

    This could include:

    • a copy of their CV showing previous experience as a safety manager
    • copies of other certificates or educational qualifications.
    • other evidence to show competency as a safety manager.
  3. Complete the submission form

    Download the FOR Transition - SMS, HFNTS, FDAP and SM end of transition submission form.

    Complete all sections, which include:

    • details of your safety manager nominee
    • whether you are a micro-operator or non-micro-operator
    • details about your exposition changes to implement SMS, HFNTS or FDAP
    • CEO declaration.
  4. Submit your documentation

    Your submission must include your:

    • completed submission form
    • all documentation such as your SMS, HFNTS and FDAP procedures.

    Send your documentation to the email address in the submission form.

    Email subject line format

    In the subject line, include:

    • your unique CASA case number (if you have one)
    • operator name
    • ARN
    • the text SMS HFNTS FDAP and SM documentation

    Note if you do not have a CASE number, it does not need to be included

Acknowledgement

There is no upfront formal assessment and approval process of your documentation for the purpose of transition.

Your safety manager will need to be accepted by CASA before 2 December 2026 in order for you to be compliant.
