Part 90 of CASR Additional airworthiness requirements

Part 90 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR) sets out aircraft airworthiness requirements. This complements the existing design standards known as the type certification requirements.

These rules apply to aircraft issued with a certificate of airworthiness.

The rules not apply to:

  • balloons
  • airships
  • sailplanes
  • light sport aircraft
  • experimental aircraft
  • amateur built aircraft
  • aircraft issued with a special flight permit or a provisional certificate of airworthiness.

Who it affects

Part 90 of CASR affects:

  • aircraft owners
  • registered operators.

Legislative instruments

Exemptions may apply to a broad range of people.
