The air transport operation – smaller aeroplane (ATO-SA) sector is broadly defined as air transport operations using smaller aeroplanes. There are two parts to the definition.
- 'Air transport operations' refers to operations conducted for hire or reward for one or more of the following purposes:
- passenger transport
- cargo transport
- medical transport.
- 'Smaller aeroplane' defined as:
- a maximum operational passenger seating capacity of nine
- a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 8,618 kg or less.
