Issue: national operating model

Specific concerns raised with potential compliance and safety implications included:

  • no direct contacts
  • not having existing relationships (context)
  • time taken for applications
  • fragmented applications.

What is CASA doing or has already delivered?

CASA continues to evolve and seek opportunities for improvement in the national operating model in response to industry feedback. The feedback included the need for CASA to ensure greater:

  • consistency
  • standardised guidance
  • improved regulatory services
  • scheduled surveillance.

We will continue to seek ways to make it easier for industry to engage with us. At the same time, we will stay true to the principles that underpin the national model for regulatory services and oversight.

Specifically, CASA is continuing to improve the service delivery time within the Guidance Delivery Centre. This includes:

  • new engagement methods
  • additional resourcing and enhanced automation in triage
  • prioritisation and categorisation.
