Recreational Aviation Australia (RAAus) operations currently follow a mix of rules. Many operations continue under exemptions and the 95-series Civil Aviation Orders until Part 103 comes into effect.

Part 149 of CASR sets the rules for Approved Self-administering Aviation Organisations (ASAOs), including Recreational Aviation Australia (RAAus). Under these rules, RAAus oversees approved sport and recreational aviation activities on our behalf.
The rules cover:
- governance and organisational capability
- safety management systems
- personnel competency and training
- operational procedures
- oversight and assurance activities
- administration of aviation authorisations.
