We are proposing to bring several longstanding exemptions and directions into the flight operations regulations.
Date
These amendments do not create new regulatory obligations. They place existing arrangements that operators already follow into the regulations, so the rules are clearer and easier to use.
They apply to Parts 91, 119, 121, 131, 133, 135, 138, 141, 142 and 202 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 (CASR).
What is changing
Provisions being incorporated relate to:
- clearer requirements for aircraft flight manual compliance
- clarifying that alternate key personnel are optional for operators, not mandatory
- more practical thresholds for determining aircraft significant changes
- first use of night vision imaging system (NVIS) in an NVIS operation
- rules for using air transport or aerial work requirements when conducting private operations.
