Airspace operating procedures around Truscott-Mungalalu aerodrome (YTST) and in nearby shore and offshore areas will change between 15 December 2023 to 30 May 2024.

A temporary restricted area (TRA) and temporary military operating area (TMOA) will be in effect at YTST and the surrounding area due to military operations. The proposed 10 nautical mile radius for the TRA aligns with the YTST CTAF area.

Both TRA and TMOA will:

  • be activated for up to 16 hours daily
  • occur predominantly during periods of darkness but may extend into daylight hours.

Whenever possible, NOTAMs will be raised at least 8 hours prior to activation. However, operational requirements may require short notice changes. Airspace users must check Brisbane FIR (YBBB) NOTAM and YTST NOTAM for confirmation of airspace activation timings.

Pilots are:

  • advised instrument approach procedures to YTST will require clearance to enter
  • reminded to check NOTAMs when flight planning and prior to departure for the most up to date information.
