Sector safety performance

Between 2014 and 2024, there were 275 business travel occurrences in Australia reported to the ATSB.

There were 88 incidents classified as business aviation (turbofan/turboprop aircraft) with 3 being serious incidents.

Accidents per million flying hours

We analysed ATSB Occurrences rates for business aviation.

Figure 1 shows the occurrences trend of business aviation from 2000 to 2024. It shows that occurrence rates are decreasing.

Airspace classes and flight rules

Figure 2 shows that from 2000 to 2024 Class G had:

  • 1 accident
  • 3 serious incidents
  • 46 incidents.

It also shows that from 2000 to 2024 business aviation had 118 occurrences for flights operating under the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR).
