The new stand-down periods will help individuals who have failed an exam, to progress towards getting their licence quicker. We have made these changes after considering feedback to our consultation last year on the policy.

What this means:

  • after a first failed attempt: you can resit the exam as soon as the next day
  • after a second failed attempt: you must wait 30 days to resit the exam (reduced from 90 days)
  • after a third failed attempt: you must wait 6 months to resit the exam (reduced from 12 months)
  • after 6 months the cycle resets and you can apply to take the exam again.

If you have failed an exam and would like to take advantage of the new stand-down periods, call Aspeq on (02) 6234 8200. The online booking system is being updated to accommodate the new timeframes.

If you are currently undertaking training with a Part 147 Maintenance Training Organisation, please contact them to see if you can also take advantage of the new stand-down periods.
