CASA produces comprehensive information to educate and support pilots when they are flight and fuel planning. This information makes it easier for pilots to understand and comply with the relevant fuel regulatory requirements. Education material is on our website.

The ATSB report also highlights the importance of safety and reporting cultures in aviation organisations. CASA is active in supporting aviation organisations to develop and maintain strong safety cultures and reviewing these issues during safety surveillance and checks is a priority.

In the case of Broome Aviation, CASA had conducted two safety surveillance events on the basis of concerns raised by staff at the airline. Safety observations were made as a result of this surveillance and CASA planned additional checks to ensure standards were being maintained.

ATSB reports play an important role in improving the aviation safety system and CASA is reviewing the report in detail with a view to applying any relevant safety lessons.
