CASA has signed new bilateral arrangements with the United Kingdom's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). These provide a framework for the reciprocal recognition of airworthiness certificates and approvals between Australia and the United Kingdom, increasing access to markets, and reinforcing a shared commitment to aviation safety and regulatory cooperation.

The implementation arrangements were signed during the 2026 Federal Aviation Administration-European Union Aviation Safety Agency International Aviation Safety Conference in the United States, with representatives from CASA and the UK CAA meeting to advance collaboration between the two aviation regulators.
By streamlining regulatory processes and supporting mutual recognition, the arrangements will help facilitate the movement of civil aeronautical products and services between the two countries, while maintaining robust safety oversight.
The new arrangements strengthen cooperation on airworthiness matters, covering aircraft design, production, certification and maintenance activities.
They build on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CASA and UK CAA signed in June 2025, which paved the way for technical assessments of each other's regulations, standards, requirements and systems. The new arrangements are effective from 1 September 2026, and CASA will update advisory circulars to provide guidance to industry on the use of these arrangements.
