The CASA Board met in Adelaide on 26 February 2026 as part of its obligations under Section 53 of the Civil Aviation Act 1988 to set CASA's strategic direction and ensure the organisation performs its functions effectively.
Ahead of the meeting, the Board held a strategy session on 25 February 2026. This included an update on an independent assurance review on the CASA Executive's Aviation Safety Committee, as well as an update on future Oversight reports to the Board based on CASA's National Oversight Plan (NOP), as well as CASA's Artificial Intelligence Exploration and Implementation Initiative.
While in Adelaide, the Board hosted a Meet the Board event with South Australian aviation industry representatives and met with senior representatives at the Australian Space Agency.
The Board's theme-based agenda focused on organisational and operational matters affecting the aviation sector. Key topics included corporate governance, financial management, major projects, cyber security, organisational culture, work health and safety, and workforce planning. The Board also received reports from the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and the Industry Complaints Commissioner.
The Executive Management Team provided updates on current operational initiatives, including accident and incident reporting, risk and causation analysis, and service delivery metrics. The Board also reviewed progress on the General Aviation Workplan, the proposed MOSAIC implementation strategy, and the final elements of the Flight Operations Regulations (Safety Management Systems and Human Factors/Non‑technical Skills training) Implementation. CASA's current funding position and major program updates were also discussed. The People and Culture Dashboard was noted, along with ongoing work toward the People and Culture Strategy for 2027–32.
The next Board meeting will be held in Launceston on 16 April 2026.
