Gain endorsement for your aviation medicine education program

Your medical education or training program may be eligible for our endorsement.

We endorse a limited number of programs that meet a high standard. An endorsement helps you stand out to students looking for trusted aviation medicine education.

Professionals running endorsed programs can also access support such as:

  • help from our experts to plan and deliver your training
  • use of our premises as teaching venues
  • listing in our medical newsletters, in our examiner handbook and on our website.

Endorsements are valid for 3 years.

What we endorse

We endorse programs that provide:

  • designated aviation medical examiner (DAME) initial training
  • DAME advanced training
  • DAME professional development, refresher or update training
  • eye examiner training
  • aeromedical training for medical specialists
  • professional education for health workers in aviation medicine
  • professional education for health workers in aviation regulation.

DAME training must meet standards. You can find them in our aviation medicine examiner handbook and the ICAO Manual of Civil Aviation Medicine.

Who can apply

To apply for our endorsement, you must:

  • have specialist or consultant experience or qualifications
  • have education credentials or experience as an aviation medicine educator
  • provide your training in Australia. If your program is hybrid or online, your teaching staff must live in Australia. They must also deliver any in-person sessions in Australia.

We give preference to programs that meet International Civil Aviation Organization standards, including in an Australian setting. This helps ensure that endorsed programs follow international best practice and meet the needs for our aviation medical processes.
