Before sitting a flight crew licence exam, you must show a current photographic identification document (ID).
You need to show your ID to the invigilator before each exam.
Acceptable forms of ID are:
- Australian Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC)
- Australian Aviation Identification (AVID) provided it includes your photograph. New AVIDs are a simple letter with no photograph. If you have such a letter, this type of AVID will not be accepted.
- digital Flight Crew Licence which includes your photograph
- driver's licence from any Australian state road transport licensing authority
- digital driver’s licence (DDL) from an Australian road transport licencing authority, conditions apply – see below
- ID of a serving member of the Australian government (state or federal) public service or statutory body (must have the official Australian Commonwealth or Australian State emblem)
- ID of a serving member of the Australian (state or federal) police or Australian military
- current international passport
- current Australian passport
- 'Proof of Age' or 'Proof of Identity' ID issued by the Australian federal or state police, or an Australian state government shop-front.
The invigilator will not accept photocopies of documents or identity documents that have expired.
Your ID must be an original and current at the date of the exam.
If you don’t bring ID with you to an exam, you can't sit the exam.
Digital driver's licence conditions
If you are using a digital driver licence (DDL) as ID, you need to make sure:
- your phone isn't cracked, shattered or an otherwise affected screen
- your phone is working, charged and has reception
- you open your DDL from the issuing road transport licensing authorities’ app, for example Service NSW
- if the exam supervisor cannot clearly see your DDL, it is your responsibility to show another form of ID
- once you have used your phone to show your DDL, you must leave your phone in a position chosen by the invigilator during the exam.
If your DDL fails and you cannot give another form of ID you can't sit the exam.
