Candidates sitting any pilot exam can now bring any of CASA’s plain English guides into exams with them.
This change gives candidates greater flexibility to choose the reference material that best supports their understanding during an exam.
The change means that where you are already permitted to take a specific regulation into the exam with you, you can now choose to take the corresponding plain English guide instead of, or as well as, the regulation.
Plain English guides are designed to explain aviation safety requirements clearly and practically, making them a valuable study and exam aid.
What this means for exam candidates
- You may take a plain English guide into the exam room where it is listed as permitted materials on the website.
- Plain English guides may be used instead of, or alongside, printed copies of the regulations.
- All other exam conditions and invigilation rules remain unchanged.
Candidates are responsible for ensuring any materials they bring into the exam comply with existing exam rules, including restrictions on annotations, loose pages and binding.
This update supports our ongoing commitment to clearer regulation and better understanding of safety requirements, while maintaining the integrity and consistency of examinations.
For more information about exam conditions or permitted materials, visit our website or contact your exam provider.
This means that you can take PEGs into the examinations, but you use them at your own risk. The exam questions will continue to be based on CARs, CAOs, CASR and their associated MOSs and NOT on the PEGs.
