An option to introduce a flight corridor southeast of Bankstown Airport will not proceed as initially proposed.

In late 2024 the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) sought views on reclassifying a section of airspace to create a corridor and introducing 2 one-way daytime-only visual flight rules lanes within the corridor.

This consultation raised safety concerns about the low-level nature of the corridor, the risk of mid-air collision and the likelihood of airspace incursions.

CASA will now work with key stakeholders to consider alternative options with a view to consulting more broadly towards the middle of 2025.
