The restrictions for all airspace users will take place between:

  • 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Thursday 15 August
  • 9:30 am to 4:30 pm (daily) between Friday 16 August–Sunday 18 August.

Crewed restrictions

Operations to and from Gold Coast (YBCG) and Brisbane (YBBN) airports and surrounding airspace will be impacted for the duration of the airshow inside the Temporary Restricted Area (TRA).

Pilots intending to operate at Gold Coast Airport during this period should check the AIC for Apron and GA parking restrictions.

Pilots flying around the Gold Coast are required to read the AIP SUP carefully and monitor NOTAMs.

Drone restrictions

Drone operators are urged to check a CASA-verified drone safety app if you’re planning to fly a drone within 9 km of Surfers Paradise during 15-18 August.

The TRA restrictions apply to drones and model aircraft of all sizes and weights operated commercially or recreationally, including drones that might be considered small toys.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you do not fly in areas where restrictions are in place – heavy penalties may apply if you operate illegally.
