New system to reassess aerodrome pavement strength

We're seeking feedback on a proposal to amend the Part 139 Manual of Standards to enable the implementation of a new system for assessing and reporting the strength of aerodrome pavements. The Aircraft Classification Rating (ACR)/Pavement Classification Rating (PCR) system is replacing the existing Aircraft Classification Number (ACN)/Pavement Classification Number (PCN) system.

Have your say

The ACR/PCR system requires aerodrome operators to reassess pavement strength and report this information in the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) En-route Supplement Australia (ERSA).

Introduced by ICAO, ACR/PCR offers a more accurate evaluation of the strength of airport pavements and provides a better understanding of pavement life. It also aligns with the latest international standards.

Provide your feedback via the Consultation Hub by 24 April.

Further information

We have been working with industry who have helped to inform a transition pathway for the system. We will be hosting a webinar to support all certified airports to replace their old PCN with a new PCR. Further information will be provided soon.
