The AC provides guidance on how RPAS designers and manufacturers can manage cyber threats. It also helps RPAS operators understand cybersecurity risks that could affect aviation safety.

It focuses on:

  • safety-critical aircraft subsystems
  • ground systems
  • command and control (C2) links
  • supporting infrastructure.

The AC includes security concepts, threat categorisation and a practical risk assessment process. It also includes an appendix with example threats and mitigations across common RPAS functional elements.

The AC does not introduce new regulatory requirements. It supports existing operational approval approaches, including SORA.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during consultation. We made minor refinements to improve clarity and published a summary of consultation on the Consultation Hub.

This initiative is part of the RPAS and AAM Strategic Regulatory Roadmap. For more information on this and other roadmap initiatives, search the latest updates.
