Aircraft maintainers play a vital role in keeping aviation safe – and this May-tenance Month, we’re recognising that by inviting them to take the new Aviation safety pledge for aircraft maintainers.

May-tenance month - Take the aviation safety pledge

Now in its second year, May-tenance Month celebrates and supports licensed aircraft maintenance engineers (LAMEs), aircraft maintenance engineers (AMEs) and everyone working across the maintenance sector who keep our skies safe.

The voluntary pledge is a way to show your commitment to safety – and to inspire others to do the same. By making a public pledge, you’re not just promising to uphold standards – you’re reinforcing safe behaviours, supporting your peers, and strengthening the safety culture of aviation.

Safety is a shared responsibility. Research shows that when people make a public commitment, they feel more accountable and are more likely to follow through. The pledge builds on this principle, reinforcing safe behaviours across the industry.

It builds on the success of the recently launched Aviation safety pledge for pilots and organisations, which has seen more than 330 individuals and organisations publicly commit to the actions that keep aviation safe in its first 30 days.

Recognition of your commitment

You’ll also be eligible to receive a digital badge and a place on our public recognition list – showcasing your leadership, pride, and professionalism. Your digital badge can be shared on social media and other websites as a public display of your commitment to safety.

Get involved

By taking the pledge, aircraft maintainers:

  • demonstrate leadership in safety
  • set an example for their peers and the next generation
  • help make safety a visible and shared priority across the industry.

Your commitment can encourage others to follow your lead. We encourage you to share the pledge with your colleagues, apprentices – even your boss – so they can all join in making the commitment to aviation safety.

Take the pledge today to show your commitment!
