We are continuing to transition operators to the flight operation rules.

The rotorcraft performance class system standardises the rules for all operators. This makes air transport operations safer. The system requires operators to plan for the failure of an engine, whether it’s a single engine, or one of the engines on a multi-engine rotorcraft.

Below are the key dates for rotorcraft performance class operators (Performance Class 1, 2, 2 with exposure and 3).

Submission and transition timelines

The submission window is now open. Operators have until:

  • 31 March 2025 – submissions close
  • 1 July 2025 – transition to be complete.

The implementation of the rotorcraft performance rules will improve safety in rotorcraft operations by ensuring that operators follow standardised procedures to address the critical risk of engine failure. These procedures are based on methodologies aligned with international best practices.

Drop in sessions

To support PC3 operators, we will be holding online briefing sessions during the month of October. The online sessions are designed to assist operators with the submission process and how to implement the rules. Operators can register via our new event registration platform Humanitix.
