We have developed drone safety signage to help drone flyers know where they can and can’t fly. This is for the safety of people, property and other aircraft.
Signs you can install without CASA approval
You do not need CASA approval to display these signs. However, landowner approval to display and install should always be sought. CASA remains the owner of the intellectual property (IP) in all signs, including copyright. You must not alter or modify any sign artwork without prior written approval from CASA.

Caution: drone rules apply is a warning sign that tells people drone rules or conditions in this area may prevent them from flying
You can display this sign in public areas such as:
- national parks
- playgrounds
- beaches.

Warning: aircraft operating nearby
Warning: aircraft operating nearby is a warning sign for drone flyers. The sign features a red warning triangle with a drone symbol to highlight hazards and the risk of flying near other aircraft. It warns drone flyers not to fly when other aircraft operate nearby.
You can display this sign in public areas where aircraft activity may occur. This includes areas such as:
- non-controlled aerodromes
- aircraft landing areas
- helicopter landing sites.

Signs that require CASA approval
No drone zone
No drone zone is a prohibition sign designed to tell people not to fly their drone in the location it’s signposted. It has a recognisable red circle with a diagonal line across the drone symbol.
This sign can only be displayed within the no-fly zone of a controlled airport or in permanent, highly restricted airspace.
