Flight operations transition deadlines: Four weeks left for 1 September deadline

Type
News
Date

Air transport and aerial work operators have 4 weeks left to submit their safety management systems (SMS), human factors and non-technical skills and (if applicable) flight data analysis procedures and safety manager nomination. The deadline is 1 September 2026.

Flight operations key dates news

Most operators have already submitted their documentation or are finalising it. If you haven’t submitted yet, act now.

If you submit your documentation after the deadline, you will be charged a fee for review of your documentation and safety manager assessment.

By 1 December 2026, you must have your systems in place and your safety manager accepted by us. Without these requirements in place, you cannot continue air transport or aerial work operations.

Failing to submit your documentation to us by 1 September may mean you cannot continue to operate from 2 December 2026.

Late or incomplete submissions may delay your ability to operate from 2 December 2026.

What you must do now

Complete these steps as soon as possible:

  1. Finalise your procedures (you can use CASA supplied sample manuals or your own).
  2. Complete the FOR-transition notification form.
  3. Nominate your safety manager in the notification form.
  4. Email your documentation by 1 September 2026.
