This change gives licence holders additional options to meet the knowledge, training and experience requirements needed to remove exclusions from a licence category, supporting greater career progression and workforce flexibility.

What is changing?

Previously, exclusion removal has largely been limited to training and assessment through a Part 147 Maintenance Training Organisation (MTO).

Licence holders can now choose one of 2 pathways to remove an exclusion from a licence category:

  • Self‑study training and examination pathway
  • Part 147 Maintenance Training Organisation (MTO) pathway.

Both pathways ensure you meet the required knowledge and competency standards under the Part 66 Manual of Standards (MOS).
