We've updated our regulatory service fee estimates to make them more consistent and accurate.
We've recently reviewed all of our regulatory services and fees using several years of updated data. Based on this review, we've introduced more accurate, standardised estimates.
Our estimates are now based on more detailed and specific job information, rather than broad categories. This means estimates should better reflect the typical time required to assess and process applications.
They also more thoroughly reflect the time needed by different CASA teams to assess and manage an application throughout the process – for example from accepting an application, applying technical expertise, seeking legal advice, undertaking peer review and finalising the job.
As a result, some people may notice the value of their estimate looks different to what they've received in the past for similar services. This reflects improved data and a more precise approach to estimating.
Because every application is different, some variability will always remain. In some cases, you may receive a refund if the work takes less time than estimated, or be asked to pay more if it takes longer. Our updated approach is designed to reduce how often this occurs.
We'll continue refining and improving our estimates on a rolling basis as more data becomes available.
