We have published new guidance on the safe planning and conduct of aerodrome works

This advisory circular (AC) helps aerodrome operators plan and carry out aerodrome works in a way that avoids creating hazards for aircraft operations or causing confusion for pilots.

We have also published the summary of consultation and feedback received through our recent consultation on the draft AC.

New NOTAM templates

One of the key updates in this AC is the introduction of new NOTAM templates for temporary displaced thresholds and temporarily reduced runway lengths.

The new NOTAM format will reduce complex, omnibus-style NOTAM that contain multiple topics. Instead, aerodromes will issue separate NOTAMs: one focused on flight critical information, and another providing situational awareness information.

The NOTAM information in this AC aligns with Airservices Australia’s updated NOTAM Data Quality Requirements for Aerodrome Operators (NOTAM originator - Airservices).
