We’re seeking feedback on proposed changes to the Manual of Standards (MOS) for Aerodrome rescue and firefighting services (Subpart 139H).
Date
Four of the 7 proposed changes are to incorporate existing legislative exemptions into the MOS. These concern:
- the colour of fire vehicles
- reserve supplies of foam concentrate and expellant gas cylinders
- remote termination of fire alarms
- housing of inshore rescue boats.
The other 3 proposed changes are intended to enable use of new technologies and align with international requirements. These are to:
- allow Performance Level C foam to be used as an extinguishing agent
- review requirements around water and foam substitution
- facilitate greater use of technology to assist in the observation of aircraft approaches and departures.
The consultation closes on 17 April.
