Drone accreditation
If you're flying a drone or model aircraft for fun or under the 'Sub 2 kg' or 'Flying over your own land' excluded category, you'll soon need to get accredited to fly.
Accreditation will show us you've learnt the drone safety rules, before you fly.
It will be free, last for three years and provide you with an accreditation certificate for flying and supervising others. Anyone under the age of 16 will need to be supervised by an accredited adult (over 18) at all times when they fly.
If you have a remote pilot licence (RePL), you will not need to get your accreditation.
Excluded category
If you are flying a drone under the excluded categories 'Sub 2 kg' or 'Flying over your own land', you'll need to get accredited – regardless of the weight of your drone.
You'll need to watch a short safety video and pass an online quiz. You can take the quiz as many times as you like, and will automatically receive your certificate once you pass. You can download and print the certificate through the myCASA portal.
You do not need to do anything at this time.
