Improving pilot licensing rules

Improving pilot licensing rules focuses on:

  • streamlining flight examiner rating approvals
  • exemptions review for general aviation
  • aerial application
  • review general aviation elements of flight crew licencing of Part 61
  • recognition of military qualifications.

Pilot training and flight testing are key to aviation safety and industry growth.

Industry has told us that they find current pilot licensing rules too complicated and that a shortage of instructors and examiners creates delays. We’re working on reforms to make improvements that better support general aviation.
