Airworthiness and maintenance

Over the next 3 years, we will focus on updating the airworthiness and maintenance regulations. These updates will be better tailored to the risks of general aviation and be more suitable for today’s Australian environment.

Industry feedback indicates that maintenance rules are too complex, and it is hard to find qualified maintenance personnel. This increases costs for aircraft owners, especially in rural areas.

What we want to achieve

The major outcomes we want to achieve include:

Major outcomes:

  • creating a new rule set for general aviation maintenance
  • streamlining the airworthiness maintenance regulations and align them with the flight operations rule set
  • improving the maintenance licensing pathways.
