Safety education for Ballarat pilots
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority will be in Ballarat next week to deliver a safety education package to local pilots.
CASA’s aviation education specialists will brief pilots on important current aviation safety issues.
Issues to be covered include the transition to new pilot licences, ageing aircraft, weather forecasts and communicating with air traffic control.
Pilots will be encouraged to raise local air safety issues, ask questions and provide feedback to CASA.
There will also be an update on new online educational tools to help pilots lift their flying skills.
CASA’s Peter Gibson says the briefing for Ballarat pilots is part of a national safety education campaign.
“CASA places a high priority on delivering face-to-face education and support for pilots, particularly in regional Australia,” Mr Gibson says.
“We want pilots to have the opportunity to ask as many questions as possible, as well as providing feedback on current issues.
“There are important changes being made to improve aviation safety in Australia and all pilots need the latest information.
The Ballarat aviation safety briefing is being held on Thursday 12 February 2015 at 6pm at the Ballarat Lodge and Convention Centre.
