Reduced separation distances approved for aerodromes
CASA has approved reduced separation distances on taxiways and taxilanes in effect from 25 January, published in the Manual of Standards Part 139 Amendment Instrument 2017 (No. 1).
This amendment to the Manual of Standards (MOS) – Part 139 Aerodromes sets out the new minimum widths of a taxiway strip, standards for separation distances and aircraft parking position taxilanes.
The Part 139 MOS amendment implements an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standard published under Annex 14 on aerodrome design and operations in November 2016. This standard was planned for introduction by CASA as part of a Part 139 post-implementation review, but has been brought forward to enable aerodromes to benefit from the changes as soon as possible.
Aerodromes with existing infrastructure are able to implement the new standards immediately from Wednesday 25 January 2017.
The amendment is now included in the Part 139 MOS on the Federal Register of Legislation.
