Project CS 11/41 - Amend AC 21-42(1): Light Sport Aircraft Manufacturer's Requirements and AC 21.7(0): Primary Category Aircraft - Certification - to update the information relating to the referenced design standards
Project closed 29 May 2014.
AC 21-42 v2.0 has been updated and published. The proposed update of AC 21.7 is considered unnecessary at this time.
Advisory Circular 21-42(1) explains the certification requirements for light sport aircraft and AC 21.7(0) explains the certification requirements for primary category aircraft. PICA 26 is listed in both AC's as an acceptable design and performance standard, however this standard is no longer sponsored or maintained by CASA. AC 21.42(1) also lists various other design standards of which CASA is not the holder.
The objective of this project is to amend 21-42(1) and AC 21.7(0) to update the information relating to the various design standards, in particular PICA 26 and those other standards that are no longer being maintained by the holder of the standard or endorsed by the relevant national airworthiness authority.
The amended terms of reference for this project was approved by Rick Leeds, A/g Executive Manager Standards Development & Future Technology Division on 2 December 2011.
