Explanatory Statement

Section 98 of the Civil Aviation Act 1988 (the Act) empowers the Governor-General to make regulations.

Subregulation 5.22 (1) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (CAR 1988) provides that the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) may give directions in Civil Aviation Orders (the Orders) prescribing the aircraft endorsements that must be held by a person who holds a licence or certificate under Part 5 of CAR 1988.

The Order amends section 40.1.0 by omitting the Grob 520T Egrett type endorsement from Part 1 of Appendix 1. CASA does not consider that this aeroplane requires specifiic endorsement. Omission of the endorsement means that the aircraft may be operated by a pilot holding the general endorsement for single-engine aeroplanes not exceeding 5,700 kilograms maximum take-off weight.

The Order has been made by the Acting Director of Aviation Safety on behalf of CASA in accordance with subsection 84A (2) of the Act.
