Discussion Paper (DP) 0911OS
Mandatory Flight Simulator Training
Options to mandate the use of flight simulators in flight training activities for aircraft operations
The objectives of this DP are to:
- explore the variety of flight training operations where flight simulators are considered advantageous for training purposes instead of using an actual aircraft;
- identify the types of aircraft/operations for which it may be beneficial to impose a requirement for the conduct of emergency scenario training in a flight simulator as opposed to in an actual aircraft;
- assess the scope of benefits and impacts such a requirement may have on operators; and
- identify and canvass support for various options for the mandate of flight simulator training.
CASA seeks input from potentially affected operators and other interested individuals and organisations on the concepts and options put forward in this DP.
