CASR Subpart 175.C (Data Service Providers) Technical Assessor Guidance

The Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) Subpart 175.C (Data Service Providers) Technical Assessor Guidance document is a tool for use by CASA’s technical assessors.

CASR Part 175 commenced on 5 March 2015 and has a 12-month transition period. CASR Subpart 175.C sets out the standards and requirements for Data Service Providers. Data Service Providers are persons authorised to publish or supply data that pilots could use as an alternative to the IAIP and aeronautical charts published by AIS providers. Data Service Providers are also authorised to supply data suitable for use in aeronautical navigation databases for Flight Management Computers, Flight Management Systems and Global Navigation Satellite Systems.

The Technical Assessor document provides guidance for CASA officers on assessing an application for a CASR Subpart 175.C certificate. It ensures there is a consistent method for assessing compliance with the regulations and documenting the decisions made by CASA.

This guidance is published for reference only, to provide people in the aviation industry with an overview of the technical assessment.

It does not detail the complete assessment process and only focuses on the assessment elements required by the regulations. Further assessment processes may be prescribed outside this documentation.

The document combines the CASR Subpart 175.C Technical Assessor Handbook with the CASR Subpart 175.C Technical Assessor Worksheet, which is included as Appendix 1. The worksheet contains the minimum criteria that CASA must consider when making a technical assessment.
