AWB 35-1 Issue 1, 30 August 2002
All pressurised aircraft engaged in the carriage of fare paying passengers.
Who should read this AWB
All maintenance personnel, maintenance organisations, Air Operator Certificate holders.
CASA has been advised by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau Air Safety (ATSB) through Recommendation No. R20020102 that there have been instances where the passenger oxygen mask auto-deployment system has failed to activate.
All operators of Australian registered pressurised aircraft engaged in the carriage of fare paying passengers should ensure;
- the adequacy of the maintenance requirements for calibration, functional test and return to service of barometric pressure switches used to activate deployment of drop down passenger oxygen mask systems; and
- their system of maintenance addresses these requirements.
