Applying for subsequent issue of a flight training approval
The Permissions Application Centre (PAC) will send you a reminder letter with a renewal application form enclosed within 90 days prior to the expiry of your existing certificate.
Those organisations that were issued an AOC with a flight training approval will receive a reminder letter to renew their AOC.
The reminder letter includes an estimate on the costs to renew your certificate.
Note: If you wish to apply for renewal of your certificate with changes to the activities, refer to the guidance on applying for a significant change/variation.
Step 1 – Completing and submitting the application form
You will need to complete the application form for renewal and submit the signed form with payment to the Permission Application Centre (Brisbane).
Processing of your renewal will only commence when CASA has received your application and payment.
A description of the estimate process is in the Fees and Charges section.
Step 2 – Review of Application
The criteria for renewal of your flight training approval are the same as that of an initial issue.
CASA will review the application to ensure you have answered the relevant questions and provided any documents asked for in the application.
If your application is incomplete, CASA will contact you and provide you with the opportunity to address the deficiency. An incomplete application, if not addressed within a reasonable period, will not be considered further.
If there is delay in the receipt of your application, CASA is unable to guarantee completion of your assessment and issue your flight training approval prior to the expiry date of your current certificate.
Step 3 – Certificate issue
If approved, your new certificate will be issued during the expiry month. Your certificate will emailed to you and the original forwarded by mail.
If not approved, you will receive a Notice of Refusal containing advice on your rights to appeal CASA's decision and the time limits for seeking review in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).
