Amending flight crew exam records
An ARN holder’s flight crew exam record is an official document, listing the history of exam undertakings. Thus, in general CASA does not accept request to amend the CASA records. However, in some exceptional circumstances there may be reasonable grounds to approve such applications.
Cost recovery fee
Where CASA approves, an amendment request will involve considerable CASA resources and has to be charged a fee, in accordance with government cost-recovery policy.
Amendments not permitted
There are specific aspects of the exam records that CASA does not permit amending.
CASA provides flight crew exams strictly for the purpose of flight crew licensing. Once an exam has been passed, it signifies the candidate has attained the required standards. Therefore a candidate may not apply for the deletion of a recorded exam already passed just to re-sit it to achieve a more impressive score.
Similarly, CASA does not permit a candidate to request for the deletion of exam passes of an older exam version in order to sit a current exam version. In this regard candidates should take note that CASA flight crew exams passes have perpetual validity.
CASA also does not permit candidates to request for deletion of exam failures from their exam records.
Amendments permitted (subject to CASA evaluation & approval)
In exceptional cases, CASA may accept an application with justifiable reasons for the deletion of an exam record. An application is not automatically approved, where each case has to be evaluated and approved by CASA.
Subject to approval by CASA, the following represent some cases for deletion of specific exam records:
Provided a request does not fall under the category of ‘amendments not permitted’, an application to amend an exam record which is not covered by the above examples may be forwarded to CASA for assessment as to its justifiable reasons.
Applicants are advised that once an amendment has been executed on their request and authority, it cannot be undone, and the CASA exam records will no longer carry the deleted or pre-amendment exam information.
Application procedures & conditions
Candidates wishing to amend a flight crew exam record may submit an application directly to CASA Flight Crew Licensing (FCL). The re-assessment carries a cost recovery fee of $150. If the application involves a task which is far more complex than the ones discussed above, CASA will cost the work involved and inform the applicant of the new fee for a decision.
Payment must accompany the application. If FCL does not approve the application, the applicant will be informed and the fee not processed/accepted.
Applying directly to FCL address firstname.lastname@example.org helps expedite the process. Credit card details and debit authorization must accompany the application.
Alternatively, the application may also be submitted by normal mail with payment by cheque or credit card authorization. The applicant should consider the delay associated with normal mail and the related administrative process.
Do not send any cash by post.
The procedures and conditions applying to an application are as follows:
