Aerospace medicine training program
CASA, the Australasian College of Aerospace Medicine (ACAsM), Qantas Airways and Virgin Australia have teamed up to pioneer an exciting new aerospace medicine training program for doctors who want to specialise in aerospace medicine.
Three medical practitioners will have the opportunity to develop their specialist aeromedical skills via a series of six to eight month rotations through the regulator and two major airlines.
The successful candidates will learn about aviation workplaces and the regulatory environment (a required International Civil Aviation Organization competency for medical examiners) and undertake research projects relating to aviation medicine.
Firsthand experience in the three organisations will support their progress through the College's aerospace medicine specialist training pathway. In addition, the collaboration offers an unparalleled opportunity to undertake research projects relating to pilot health and safety.
