Temporary management instructions

A temporary management instruction (TMI) is used to provide administrative and/or technical guidance or instructions to staff prior to formal amendment of a CASA manual.

Part 141 Sample Operations Manual

CASA surveillance manual interim amendments

This TMI relates to interim amendments to the CSM associated with the release of Sky Sentinel enhancements in the following process areas:

  • The conduct of authorisation holder assessments, particularly in conducting Authorisation Holder Performance Indicator (AHPI) assessments
  • Level 1 and Level 2 Surveillance Reports
  • Changes to the head of power for Code A and Code B aircraft survey reports (ASRs)

International operations - assessment of foreign aircraft air operator's certificate and non-scheduled flight permissions

The purpose of this TMI is to provide guidance to staff within International Operations section when assessing an application for a FAAOC or NSFP pending the adoption of a more fully developed policy.

Part 145 AMO approval - voluntary

This TMI provides notification and direction to all CASA personnel involved in the Application and Approval of a Part 145 of CASR AMO certificates for organisations to provide maintenance services for aircraft (used in charter, aerial work and private operations).

Part 42 CAMO approval - voluntary

This TMI provides notification and direction to all CASA personnel involved in the receipt, application and approval of a CAMO approval for aircraft that are used under an AOC for the purposes of charter or aerial work, and for which the registered operator has elected to have the aircraft’s airworthiness managed by a Part 42 CAMO.

Design instrument of appointment procedures manual - guidelines for CASR 21.007

Approving an SMS and/or HF&NTS training program which incorporates an amendment process

Guidelines for regulation 21.095 of the CASR 1998 - Changes to the type design of a type certificate

This TMI provides notification and direction to all CASA Divisions and external stakeholders that, as of date 1 November 2013, TMI-Airworthiness 2013-009 is to be used. These guidelines are intended to help CASA staff processing applications for instruments of appointment for authorised persons to approve changes in type design of a type certificate and approval of technical data (paragraph 21.009(1)(b) of the CASR 1998) requested by a type certificate holder as required by CASR Subpart 21.D.
