Replacement of CAAP Airways-2(0) with AC 171-04(0)

Project status:
Closed

Purpose/Objectives

Civil Aviation Advisory Publications (CAAPs) are issued in association with the 1988 Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs), whereas Advisory Circulars (ACs) are issued under the new Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASRs).

CAAP Airways-2(0) Software and its use in Safety Critical Systems was originally issued in July 1999 before the promulgation of CASR Part 171 Aeronautical telecommunication service and radionavigation service providers. The conversion of the CAAP to an Advisory Circular to support Part 171 is required in order to perpetuate the content of the CAAP which remains highly relevant to Part 171 services and service providers.

This project sets out to produce a new AC and, at the same time, withdraw the originating CAAP and its parent enabling document - the previous memorandum of understanding between Airservices Australia and CASA on the safety regulation of Airservices.
