MS 11/47 - Expansion of Permitted Training Program

Project approved.

Closure notes

Project closed 19 April 2012.

The Civil Aviation Order 104.0 Amendment Instrument 2012 (No. 1) was registered on FRLI on 4 April 2012 (FRLI No. F2012L00789) and came into effect on 5 April 2012.

Issue

Industry has requested expanded access to the Permitted Training regime established for Part 145 of the CASR approved maintenance organisations (AMO). Permitted training allows access to manufacturers' training for Part 66 aircraft type rating purposes and in addition removal of licence exclusions on Part 66 aircraft type ratings by an AMO. This amendment would establish the conditions under which CASA would vary a regulation 30 of the CAR 1988 certificate of approval to aircraft maintenance to include permitted training.

Sections 3.3 and 3.4 of the CAO 104.0 relate to evidence under regulation 35 of the CAR 1988 (now repealed) and CASA would take the opportunity to make corrections to those provisions.

Project objective

The main objective of the project is to provide access to the Permitted Training regime within regulation of the CAR 1988 aircraft maintenance organisations. To accomplish this amendment of CAO 104.0 and AC 145-4 would be required.

Rules affected

CAO 104.0 and AC 145-4
