Project closed 9 February 2012

CAO 100.5 Amendment Instrument 2012 (No 2) was registered on FRLI on 6 February 2012 and came into effect 7 February 2012

Issue

  1. AWB 25-3 Issue 1, 4 April 2003 describes the knowledge required for LAME training prior to a LAME using their airframe licence for providing certifications for maintenance of the Cirrus SR20/SR22 Aircraft Parachute System (CAPS).
  2. Other aircraft - including the Cessna 172 by STC - are fitted with ballistic parachutes requiring maintenance - not covered by the standard scope of a LAME licence.

Project objective

The objective is to amend CAO 100.5 so that the Order generically covers off on the way in which a LAME can be trained for the purpose of providing maintenance of systems which include explosive devices. CAO 100.5 would be amended to include a direction that the maintenance could only be provided by a regulation 30 of the CAR 1988 CoA holder for aircraft maintenance that had the appropriate tools, equipment and data to support the maintenance.
