DAME newsletter - July 2019
Date of publication:
7 August 2019
From Sanjiv Sharma, Acting Principal Medical Officer
AvMed bade goodbye to Dr Mike Seah, Senior Medical Officer, on 30 June 2019. Mike’s genial smile and nurturing nature benefitted not just me, but all the doctors who joined CASA in the past few years. His exceptionally helpful nature and willingness to teach us allowed us to learn not just the AvMed related processes but also the tricks of handling the online Medical Records System (MRS) with ease. Team AvMed wishes Dr Seah all the very best for the future.
In the coming days, we look forward to welcoming Dr Caron Jander and Dr Patricia Beresford.
Vale Dr Raoul Tunbridge
CASA and AvMed are saddened by the news of passing away of Dr Raoul Tunbridge on 1 August 2019 at the age of 92. Dr Tunbridge provided outstanding service in the area of aviation medicine. He conducted more than 20,000 aviation medicals during his 40 years of service as a DAME. His kind heartedness – along with his many other positive attributes and contributions to aviation safety – will be missed. Our heartfelt condolences to Dr Tunbridge's family.
DAME application submissions
A gentle reminder that applications for medical certificates, once completed by the DAME, should be submitted to CASA within five working days as stated in the DAME handbook - Submission of medical examinations. Please be mindful of the impact the delayed submission of applications could have on aviation aspirants, especially those waiting to join flight schools or take up a much-awaited employment opportunity.
Maintaining your designation as DAME and DAO
Both DAMEs and DAOs are required to apply for re-designation at least one month prior to the expiry of the current designation.
Our DAME liaison officer will contact you before your designation is due to expire. If you choose not to reapply, your file will be marked inactive and your details will be removed from our website. Any medical performed after your delegation has expired will not be processed.
To ensure we are able to contact you easily, please make sure we have your current email address or email any change in details to email@example.com.
